Meet Justine our Pleated Wristlet/Clutch with Key Fob

Hello everyone. I can't believe it is November! I have finalized the wristlet style I wanted and have added a couple. Check out Justine here.

I have to retake some pictures (I have about 22 wristlets made) because my computer crashed! I have been meaning to transfer all  original pictures to my external hard drive but haven't gotten around to it. When I was editing all the wristlet pictures via photoshop, I had that nagging feeling that I should transfer all of them before something happens. Sure enough the nightmare happened ( I lost some personal pictures too) I was numb for awhile.

Anyway ,I am proud of this new wristlet style. I like the pleated styling and it comes with a removable key fob and 2 interior pockets for cash and credit cards. It is a 2 in 1 wristlet--just take the key fob off and it becomes a clutch. I am working on some dressier fabrics for the upcoming holidays.

Here are some of my favorites:
Chocolove

Cupcakes--Sweet!!

Zebra- Very in this Season
Beanstalk
I have a giveaway coming. Until next time.

Pleated Wristlets

For weeks I have been drafting patterns for a pleated wristlet (relentlessly!) with removable key fob. I just couldn't get the right look I was looking for. These are the practice pieces I did. I will share with you the one I am finally happy with soon.

The bottom one wasn't round enough.

If you asked where's the pattern for these I couldn't tell you. Sometimes when I am so engrossed with drafting and sewing I usually make changes directly on the wristlet itself and forget to do the same on the pattern I used.

The blue print was the first one I did. I sort of liked it then I couldn't find the pattern. I have made so many changes to it I could figure out which one I used. Then on second thought I wanted it fuller. This one just had darts.

The bottom was too flat--no darts. I wanted it boxed or darted at the corners.

Stay tuned!

I'm Lost!!

I haven't realized how important my computer is until the other day. The video card I was told burned out and needed to be replaced. Fine I thought. I can use my daughter's laptop and the one downstairs. Wrong. I have all my files in there and haven't gotten to moving them to my external hard drive-- just in case. I was planning to do some photo editing so I can add some new bags on the site. For the life of me I can't remember some important bookmarks. You know how you feel when your car is in the garage and you feel so strange and out of sorts? That's how I feel. The internet is the world at your fingertips. Hopefully the video card arrives today or tomorrow.

Have a great day!

Joan Messenger/Diaper Bag

I have finally added some Joan Messenger/Diaper Bags with a new look.  This can also be used as a camera bag that's why on the site I have added the option of padding the pockets (without extra charge) for protection. Extra features were added which makes it The Ultimate Messenger Bag!

I love this decorator print which I named Neapolitan. Now it has a non slip rubber strap, boxier shape and snap hook fastener for more security

Additional large back pocket for magazines or baby's toys

Just by switching straps it can be used as a backpack or stroller bag
Quick release buckle to keep everything safe inside

I love to mix prints. The body is in Seafoam and the flap in Full Bloom by the very talented Amy Butler
Brown with ivory branches--Ivory Cluster. I don't have much of this fabric.

Come check it out!

Leather Bags

I have been working on my leather collection for quite a while now. I have drafted a couple of pattern sizes and played around with it. Since the strap is going to be on the sides it would be sort of slouchy. Having decided right from the start that it would fall under Shopper Totes/Diaper Bags it tends to be wider than my On the Go Bags. Before I add a new style I always make one for me or for my daughter to test drive. See what needs to be adjusted. Remember what they say about your first instinct is usually the right one? Well I didn't heed that warning this time and went ahead and started sewing a couple of bags. I didn't test drive it first. To cut the story short they were too slouchy for my taste. They came out really nice don't get me wrong but I am a stickler for details. I just had to change the pattern! Some like this kind of look but it just bugged me no end. I have also played with interfacing but since the pattern was on the wide side it would always be slouchy. Those of you who have bought my bags know that they are sturdy but not stiff.

These are the first ones I made. I would probably sell them here locally.

So back I went and redid the pattern. These are the ones I am working on.  I already made a couple and they came out just right--with just enough "slouch". Now I am happy with it--the dimensions are still within the size range I wanted. Hopefully I can add them to the site next week provided I am not sidetracked!

Have a fabulous weekend.

My "new" sewing table

I've had this inexpensive sewing table for years long before I started selling purses. The type that you assemble and sometimes if you are unlucky the holes don't match or some parts are cracked. I have been putting off fixing it. The fronts had come off  because the glue was not strong enough and the constant handling  had taken its toll. Finally the drawers just fell apart a few days ago and spilled all my junk in there. So I just nailed them in place and some cracked and I am not the best carpenter! My poor table stood out like a sore thumb and it made me cringe every time I looked at it. So in between filling out orders I managed to cover the front with some of my favorite fabrics.

It didn't take long actually. I just glued the fabrics on the front and a little on the sides and voila! Next on the agenda---my cutting table which now looks like a hurricane just hit it!

New Year-- - -New Everything

Hello everyone. I hope you found me here.  I wanted something new this year and for awhile I couldn't for the life of me think of a name for my shop. I scribbled endlessly of possible names (just like I did when I knew I was having a little girl). Inspiration hit me when I least expected it--in the middle of the night.. I knew I wanted  "Posh" and I have seen a lot of craft sites with "Sew" so it was just a matter of adding Designs, Bags or Shop.  I was lucky all domain names were available.

For the website templates I spent lots and lots of surf time on the net. I was planning on something simple with just a jolt of color but when I saw The Nifty Shop's Pink Mendocino I fell in love at first sight!! Kinda preppy but not too cutesy. I love the oval logo too. It is very seldom that you see all the add ons that come with it--it kinda made decide right on the bat.  Bobbie the owner has been such a darling and a breeze to work with.  These are some runners up:

Nature's Blush--Kinda similar to my old one but lovely nonetheless
Bloomin' Retro--Love the pink, green and brown combo
Sugar Sweet Cherry--Just the name alone will get you
Eco Green--Love the strategically placed leaves
Mocking Bird Lane--Cute!!That's all I can say
Whimsy--Geared more towards a baby boutique but cute as a bug and besides I can't afford it!
Delicate-- Love the blue damask
Contemporary Floral--Those flowers are just lovely
Until next time. Have a great day.

New Yummy Fabrics

I am on cloud nine right now. I got some new awesome fabrics and I can't wait to share them with you.  These are just SOME of them!! I have to think of names.  Hmmm.

These are good enough to eat!  I already made a bag out of the lime print.

Chocolate goodness. Can't go wrong with these ones. I especially like the top one. I wonder what will I name these sweeties. I have actually made a bag out of the paisley print.

Bright retro florals--they pop up everywhere. The top one I have decided to call it deja vu, the bottom one cherry blossoms.

So girly and preppy. Bubblegum pink, peach and lime combo. Top is pink lotus then the paisley is called sugar baby (yeah) but haven't thought of names for the two bottom ones.

Love this color combo--brown and spa blue. I am just lovin' all of them.

Took me forever to do this post. I had trouble centering the images then I realized just get out of the edit html page and just do all the posting via the compose page which has all the icons at the top to do all the editing just like my website. Duh!

Have an awesome Monday everyone.

To zip or not to zip

It's just so lovely today--high 70s. I am 10 minutes away from the beach --maybe one of these days I can swing by there! Not today though I have some sewing to do.
Ever since I started making purses I had a lot of requests for zipper closure but I couldn't quite figure out how to do it. I mean a recessed zipper closure where the zipper is a couple of inches down not at the very top like my wristlets. The reason I like the recessed is it retains the purse's shape and it doesn't look funny at the top.
A year or so I go I had a request from a friend for a zippered closure tote. It took me forever to figure it out  but unfortunately I didn't make any notes! Fast forward a few months back I was back to square one. There are a lot of tutorials online but it is not what I wanted. To cut the story short I finally figured out and confident enough to add it as a closure option on the site. Yeah baby! Here are some custom ones that I made:

For my niece Kristen who loves animals and hearts.

For my sister-law's mom. I was surprised she likes zebra prints. I do.

These are custom orders.

The stripes one is for my mom and the other one is for me.

Close up view.

Have a nice weekend everyone.
